Some objects are sold in auctions, some belong to his private collection.

The Lalique pefume bottles collection travelled all over the world, and were photographed to became a catalogue that can be purchased upon request.

Réne Jules Lalique was born in France, in 1860. He was a master jeweler and glass maker.

He started to design perfume bottles for Coty in 1907.

The master created more than 250 bottles that were incredible objects of art.

He also design perfume bottles for Guerlain, D'Orsey, Houbigant et Rogeret et Gallet and Worth.

Começa nesta Terça- feira, dia 25 de Novembro o evento internacional - Sincronismo dos Sentidos - Que tem como proposta criar um ambiente para reflexão e experimentação sobre o assunto arte, consciência e tecnologia, abordando a relação entre os sentidos.

Para isso, o evento propõe um ambiente interativo onde cores, sons, imagens, texturas, sabores e odores atuarão como catalisadores entre o mundo interior e exterior a pele.

Na mesa 3, apresentada no dia 26, 14:30hs, a proposta será o Texto do Cheiro.

A minha querida amiga Renata Ashcar, apresentará neste debate uma vivência olfativa.

Avery Gilbert describes himself as a "sensory psychologist. My specialty is olfaction --the strange and wonderful world of smell. I've worked in academia and the corporate world, published my research in scientific journals, and written a book that explores the interface of smell and pop culture."

He wrote a book about my favorite theme - how scents influences our behavior.

He is also a scientist, speaker and blogger. His blog has interesting postings although it is rather new (since last September).

It is for sure a good reading for this holidays!

Laurent Bruyere sadly leaves us/Laurent Bruyere nos deixou

Infelizmente o compromisso de trazer informações atualizadas, as vezes significa trazer notícias tristes.

O perfumista Laurent Bruyere morreu aos 43 anos, no último dia 19 de novembro.

Deixou família, amigos e fãs de suas criações.

A Mane, empresa francesa na qual ele estava trabalhando expressou sua perda com muita tristeza.

Perfumer Laurent Bruyere of Mane (Paris) has passed away. He was 43.

Bruyere has worked previously with IFF and was working at Mane.

The Mane organization expressed its deepest regret.

Laurent leaves us far too early, at the dawn of his 44th year, and leaves the perfumery world in a state of immense sadness. I always had a problem to work out in a gym. I dislike the idea of having to share the machines with sweaty people. I know, I am picky, but nobody is perfect! Not only I feel dizzy just to think of working out near people that seems to forget what deodorants are for, but also the other way around: some people tend to come to the gym loaded with perfume. The excessive use of fragrance, in a place that the majority of people are gasping for breath, is really suffocating.

Sweat and perfume do not go together!

So I don't really know what is worst: Eau de BO or the mix of the 2 of them.

I need my daily energy combustion, so I took the decision to jog outdoors.

What a sad surprise! Seems that strong fragrances early in the morning is a Brazilian new trend.

Paris by YSL at 7:00 a.m.? Fahrenheit by Dior? Hello!!!!

Worst than that, these people run much faster than me, so they leave their scent track behind! Enauseating...

Is it possible that they are having animalistic behaviors of marking territory? Doggy style...

"Hey! This is my track, you won't jog here!"

So either I start running faster, or I will have to come out of the bed earlier.

Both options seem not possible right now, so I decided to bring a list of fresh, less suffocating fragrances to combine with sports. Hopefully they will eventually read my blog.

Frankly, I prefer to smell the scent of fresh air early in the morning while jogging. The green accord of pine trees and cut wet grass natural scents warming up with the heat of the sun. The fragrance of frangipanis and gardenias and wet mossy soils of Brazilian spring.

But back to reality/urban life - São Paulo is a violent city, so I go to a private club, to jog safely and breathe heavy floral perfumes and cheap cool mint aftershaves...

All for the sake of low blood cholesterol levels!

A palavra romã possui várias origens. Muitos estudiosos sugerem que seu sentido seria maçã de muitas sementes – pomum granatum. Daí a origem em Francês pomme+grenate; polysporia em Grego; Granat +apfel (maçã) em Alemão; malum granatum, também em latim deu origem ao termo italiano melograno. Já o nome romã em português segue a raiz árabe-semítica rmn – em hebraico rimon, em árabe rummân e em português romã.

Assim como suas várias origens, a fruta possui diversos significados para vários povos.

Os antigos egípcios enterravam seus mortos com vários objetos que serviriam para a vida apos a morte, inclusive romãs.

A fruta simboliza a fertilidade pelo fato de guardar muitos grãos no seu interior. E simboliza o útero da mulher. Sempre está ligada a figura feminina, a sexualidade da mulher.

Para os gregos da antiguidade a fruta representava a fertilidade e o amor. A árvore da romã foi consagrada à deusa do amor e da beleza Afrodite, pois os gregos acreditavam que a fruta possuía propriedades afrodisíacas. Hoje em dia a fruta costuma a ser servida em casamentos.

Dizem que a árvore da vida, citada na Bíblia, era uma árvore de romã.

It is very interesting to study the etymology of the word pomegranate because it has many origins. From Old French language we extract the term pomme+grenate, meaning an apple – pomme + grenate – seedy; from Latin- pomum granatum – apple of many seeds. Polysporia in Greek – fruit with many seeds; Granat+apfel (Apple) in German; malum granatum, from Latin, seedy fruit, became melograno in Italian. In Portuguese the Word romã came from the Arabian Semitic root rmn – in Hebrew rimon, in Arabic rummân. As the word has many meanings, the fruit represents many symbols in diverse cultures. In general it represents fertility for the fact that the fruit keeps many seeds inside. It symbolizes the woman’s womb. Always connected to the woman figure, to the woman’s sexuality. In the ancient Greek world, pomegranates represented love and fertility. The pomegranate tree was given to the Goddess of love and beauty, Aphrodite, because the fruit was believed to have aphrodisiac powers. Today Greeks serve the fruit at weddings. Some believe that the tree of life cited in the Bible was a pomegranate tree.

Para a religião judaica a romã é uma das frutas mais especiais, pois suas 613 sementes simbolizam os 613 comandos da Torá (mitzvot). É também o símbolo da abundância e é um costume dar de presente a fruta a alguém no ano novo judaico, para que seja colocada de enfeite na mesa.

A coroa do Rei Salomão foi confeccionada em forma de romã. E a fruta também estava presente no primeiro Shekel (moeda) e nas túnicas do Rei.

Nas cartas de Tarô, as romãs são símbolo de feminilidade, abundância, fertilidade, generosidade, paixão e união.

To Buddhism the fruit is the symbol of prosperity and good influences. In Tarot cards is the symbol of femininity, fertility, fruitfulness, generosity, passion and union.

Para o Cristianismo a fruta está ligada a ressurreição. A fruta é sempre carregada por uma criança como na pintura do famoso pintor italiano e renascentista, Sandro Boticcelli que retratou Maria e sua criança segurando uma romã em suas mãos. Acredita-se que a riqueza das sementes simbolizavam o sofrimento de Cristo que estava por vir. Outros especialistas acreditam que as sementes da romã representam na pintura as sementes do cristianismo espalhado por Cristo.

A romã também foi o símbolo de Catarina de Aragão, a primeira esposa de Henrique VIII. Para os espanhóis da época a fruta representava tudo que era realeza, pois tinha o formato que lembra uma coroa.

A árvore também aparece como inspiração na obra do inglês William Shakespeare, Romeu e Julieta. Na cena depois do casamento celebrado em segredo, encontramos Romeu e Julieta dormindo no quarto de Julieta. Ambos são são acordados por um pássaro que está na árvore de romã anunciando que o dia amanheceu e que Romeu deve partir.

Esta maravilhosa fruta que é tão importante para várias culturas é a minha favorita. Para mim ela representa a materialização da alma feminina e a cultura judaica.

Suas sementes me lembram rubis. Pequena jóias presenteadas com afeto.

Na perfumaria, a nota olfativa de romã é sutil, distinta, frutada, levemente adocicada, levemente verde e com um toque de vinho.

For Christianity pomegranates are a motif found in religious decoration. They are often woven into the fabric of vestments and liturgical hangings or wrought in metalwork. Pomegranates figure in many religious paintings by the likes of Sandro Botticelli and Leonardo da Vinci, often in the hands of the Virgin Mary or the infant Jesus. The fruit, broken or bursting open, is a symbol of the fullness of his suffering and resurrection. Some believe the seeds of the pomegranate symbolized the seeds of Christianity.It was also the symbol of Catherine of Aragon, the first wife of English King Henry VIII. To the Spanish people the fruit represented everything that was royal, because the shape resembles a crown.

William Shakespeare mentioned pomegranates in his play, Romeo and Juliet. The following scene opened when Romeo, after their secret wedding, was spending the night in Juliet's room. The nightingale woke them anouncing that it was time for Romeo to leave before daybreak.

Nightly she sings on yond pomegranate tree.
Believe me, love, it was the nightingale."

This wonderful fruit that is so important for some cultures and it is my favourite above all. It represents the materialization of the feminine soul and the Jewish culture. Its seeds remember rubies to me. Small jewels handled with affection. In perfumery, the pomegranate olfactive notes are subtle, distinct, fruity, slightly sweet, slightly green and with a wine/berry touch.

Saí de casa ontem em busca de inspiração e a procura de uma fragrância de romã que me fizesse sonhar com o aroma exalado pelos carrinhos de suco de romãs da Terra Santa. Bateu a saudade de viajar para Akko e tomar um suco de romã prensado na hora, levemente ácido, levemente adocicado, vermelho brilhante e tão refrescante!

I left home yesterday in search of inspiration and in the search for a scent of pomegranate to make me dream with the aroma exhaled by the agalot mitzim (handcarts) full of pomegranates in the Holy Land. Suddenly I was eager and dreaming of traveling to Akko and drink a pomegranate juice freshly pressed, slightly acidic, slightly sweet, bright red and very refreshing!

Santa Maria Novella - Melograno in Terracota Profumato

E foi na Santa Maria Novella que encontrei uma romã de terracota – Melograno in Terracota Profumato. Uma fragrância delicada, levemente frutada e polvorosa. Simplesmente um sonho olfativo! A terracota em forma de fruta fica antes imersa uma semana no óleo de melograno e é queimada em temperatura baixa. Segundo a marca, deve durar de 9 a 12 meses na sombra. A marca oferece também uma água de colônia de mesma fragrância – Acqua di Colônia Melograno, sabonete, sais de banho e xampú para cabelos secos.

Ângela, a vendedora, abriu a caixa para eu sentir a fragrância. Fechei os olhos e transcendi para uma outra esfera. O tipo da experiência que ficará impressa vivamente na minha memória olfativa. Fiquei envolvida, maravilhada. Lembro agora da cena em que Baldini (Dustin Hoffman), que no filme O Perfume, sente o perfume no lencinho e se envolve em um mundo imaginário de flores, e com mulher morena sensual que vem lhe dar um beijo. Fiquei lá parada,no meio da loja, vendo grãos de romã voando em volta de mim, misturados a flores.

Voltei para casa feliz. Não tomei o suco mas encontrei uma fragrância divina.

E voltando a rotina e aos meus afazeres comecei a responder meus e-mails.

Abri um e-mail da Ducha Cosméticos, com a descrição do lançamento da linha nova de romã! Que loucura! São dois produtos, uma loção hidratante, com extrato de romã e manteiga de murmuru, que mistura notas de romã, frutas vermelhas, lírio e musk, e um sabonete líquido com extrato de romã também com notas olfativas de frutas vermelhas, lírio e musk. Uma combinação floral, levemente frutal e almiscarada. Bárbaro. Não posso esperar até o dia 18, dia do lançamento, para poder experimentar!

And it was in Santa Maria Novella that I found a pomegranate made of terracotta - Melograno in Terracotta Profumato. A delicate fragrance, slightly fruity, slightly powdery. And now I remember the scene where Baldini (Dustin Hoffman), in the movie The Perfume, smells a tissue impregnated with perfume and imagines an imaginary world of flowers, and with sexy brunette woman who comes to give you a kiss. I was standing there in the middle of the store, seeing grains of pomegranate flying around me among the flowers.

I went home happy. I did not drink the juice, but I found a divine fragrance.And back into the daily routine and work, I started to answer my emails.You will not believe in coincidence:

I opened an email from Brazilian brand Ducha Cosmetics, describing the launch of the new line of pomegranate! Pure craziness! Two products, a moisturizing lotion, with extracts of pomegranate and murmuru butter, which blends notes of pomegranate, red berries, lily and musk, and a liquid soap with extract of pomegranate, also bringing olfactive notes of red berries, lily and musk. A floral, fruit and slightly musky combination. Great. I can not wait until the 18th (day of release), so I can try!
