Paths to India/Caminhos da Índia

When Brazilian TV Network Rede Globo launches a new soap opera it means that new fashion trends are going to be launched too.
The last Brazilian soap opera (The Clone)
that set place in a foreign country, such as Morocco, brought a lot of interest to Brazilians about that country and its culture. We saw a Moroccan frenzy, with a lot of women running to buy accessories and clothes that were shown in the soap opera, and running to sign up to belly dance classes. It was a fever. Restaurants serving Moroccan food had reservation lists and travel agencies sold a lot of tickets to Morocco.
This year the network is launching at prime time, a soap opera about India called Paths to India. The locations of the production will be Brazil, India and Dubai.
What caught my attention is that first of all the soap opera was written by one of the most famous soap opera's writers - Glória Perez; it brings a casting with actors and actresses that are always on the spotlight such as Vera Fisher and Juliana Paes; and the story is about an Indian family of perfumers.
Meaning that not only perfumery will be the next hottest focus of Brazilians attentions this year, but it will increase the sales of perfumes and essential oils. Probably there will be a lot of interest about raw materials, natural perfumes and perfume production.
Also an increase of new Yoga schools, Ayurveda shops etc...
What amazes me is that Rede Globo, always ahead of other networks, is very aware of 2009 trends, knowing that the countries of the BRIC (Brazil and India included) will be a major influence in perfume marketing.
Lucky me!!!! I will reach my goal to develop perfume Culture is Brazil much faster than I thought!!
Criar e desenvolver a cultura do perfume no Brasil.

This is a very interesting post to me because I have also seen perfume coming more into mainstream television in North American. Lately, there was an episode of a dating show (Don't remember the name) which featured the fellow taking his date to a Le Labo boutique and having a special perfume made for her; he even mentioned the origins of ambergris live on air! I thought it was very interesting and unexpected :)
